Accommodation
All Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are guaranteed safe and secure accommodation for the duration of their program. All student accommodation residences are self – catered, with fully equipped kitchens and on-site laundry facilities. We offer a great choice of accommodation for you to choose from and ourvrent prices include heating, lighting, water, fuel, Wi Fi and personal possessions insurance. Rents for University accommodation at Sunderland are among the cheapest in the country and all offer quality and comport. All student accommodation residences are self-catered, with All of our residences are in a great location for students studying at either City Campus or Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s. They are all within walking distance of Sunderland City Centre with access to supermarkets, bars/restaurants, theatres/cinema and transport links. Most of our accommodation centers have technology to support students who are deaf of hearing impaired, and we also have rooms, kitchens and bathrooms which are easily accessible for students who use wheelchairs. We understand the importance of having reliable and fast internet connection, and we can guarantee you 50 Mbps, with unlimited downloads and uploads as standard.

Our Disability Support Team provide information, support and guidance to students with disabilities, mental health difficulties, Specific Learning Difficulties (such as dyslexia) and long-term medical conditions. Team Sunderland
We have over 30 clubs to choose from so there is something for everyone. All clubs provide weekly training sessions led by qualified coaches, transport (where relevant) and equipment.

Adventure Club
The Marine Activities centre, Adventure Sunderland is home of our wet provisions. Once inducted you can surf, kayak and even rock climb should the weather not be suitable for getting out in the sea. There is a special offer for members of all University of Sunderland sports clubs who will be given free membership to the Adventure Club. Students can also apply for their membership for just £10 which gives full access to the facilities on offer. We have over 20 sports teams competing in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) leagues each Wednesday as well as other competitions throughout the year including TeesWear Varsity against Teesside University and Clash of the Minsters against York St John. Club membership ranges from £55 – £85
City Space
CitySpace is the University’s iconic facility for sports and social activity on the University’s City Campus. The 2012 pre-Olympic training camp venue has a vast array of fantastic services available to students, staff and members of the public throughout the year. The flagship facility includes a six badminton court sports hall, 70 station fitness suite, new strength and conditioning room equipped to develop strength and body conditioning, sports massage and injuries clinic, multi purpose studios, indoor climbing wall and retail, social, catering, leisure and exhibition spaces. It is home to a wide range of sporting and physical activities including the University BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) clubs and teams, Elite Athlete support, community and outreach and the Team Sunderland program. The fitness suite within CitySpace provides a high quality user experience for all ages and abilities and features a huge range of cardio, resistance and flexibility equipment provided by Technogym and we have membership packages available for students, staff and public members. There is also a huge range of fitness classes available to suit all ability levels and fitness needs as well as our new personal training sessions which are priced at £15 a session or £60 for 5 session.
Elite Athlete Scheme
As part of the University of Sunderland’s continued development of services that it can offer elite athletes during their time at university, the Institute of Sport has implemented and grown the Elite Athlete Scheme. The Scheme is designed to assist students who perform at a high level either in a sporting team or an individual sport, whilst studying at the University of Sunderland. The scheme aims to support students and help them achieve both their academic and sporting potential.
Past scheme members have included everyone from World Champion martial artists, Commonwealth gymnasts, County cricket players, European athletic competitors and Six Nations rugby champions.

Student Union
The University of Sunderland Students’ Union is run by students for students and is a separate organization from the University. The Union is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprising 5 Officer Trustees (elected by you, the students every year) and 5 Lay Trustees (recruited for their expertise and experience). The Chief Executive and staff work alongside the Officer Trustees and other elected Officers to run the Union. Union Council is your forum to influence the Union and make Students’ Union policy. As a member of the Students’ Union, we encourage you to attend and speak at the Union Council meetings about the things you are passionate about – making positive change for students.

Libraries
Our library services are personalized and accessible; our excellent resources include books, e-books, journals and extensive online support. Murray library at City Campus Open 24 hours -7 day per week Murray Library has an extensive range of Arts, Education, Health, History, Languages, Literature, Natural Sciences, Performing Arts, Pharmacy, Psychology and Counselling, Social Sciences, and Sport collections. The Murray Library has three bookable Syndicate Rooms and St Peter’s Library has a bookable Group Study Room. Each offers a range of learning technology. They are ideal for meeting with your peers to work on group projects or presentations.
